At MacGregor EMC, we believe that the good news of the Gospel demands we live out Jesus' love in our faith, in our lives, and in how we reach out to both our members as well as our community. Whether it be in the form of sponsoring a refugee family, putting on services at the local seniors home, or providing casseroles to a family going through tough times, we try to live out the good news of the Bible in our day-to-day lives.

The following are a couple of our bigger ministries, but it is by no means an exhaustive list. If you want to find out more about what we do, or have a suggestion for a ministry you feel could benefit our community, feel free to contact us with your ideas.

The MEMC 2023 Sunday School Picnic

Sunday’s at MEMC

A Sunday Morning at MacGregor EMC during the school year begins bright and early at 9:45 AM with adult Sunday School. The discussions range from the passage the sermon will be on that Sunday to topics like, “What does the Bible say about…” and are usually met with good back and forth.

The MEMC main service begins at 10:45 AM. We purposely change our worship style week to week to get as many people involved in ways they are truly passionate about as possible. Pastor Russell's messages are steeped in scripture and seek to equip and recharge all in attendance for the week ahead. The service is about an hour long, is a mix of music, prayer, scripture, announcements and preaching, and our atmosphere is relaxed and casual so know you will be welcomed with open arms no matter how you are feeling or what you choose to wear. We are excited to see you. At the end of a service there will be deacons at the front of the sanctuary who look forward to chatting and praying with you for anything you may need. We also have communion on the second Sunday of every month, open to all believers.

Every Sunday during the school year, there is also Children’s Church. Children’s Church is for ages 3-12 and begins during the main service. Children can expect to be dismissed before the sermon for a time of singing, good Bible-based lessons or a fun playtime, depending on age. Our Children’s Church is also equipped with sensory equipment in order to help any children on the Autism Spectrum who may find the large group to be overwhelming.

If you want to learn more about MEMC, click here to contact Pastor Russell. If you want to get an idea of what our in-person services are like, click here to check out recent recordings. Otherwise, come check us out any Sunday morning. We would love to see you!

Kid’s Ministries

At MacGregor EMC, we care deeply about building up the future generation. Here are some of our children’s ministries that strive to do just that every week.

Children’s Church

Every Sunday during the school year, we have Children’s church during the service for ages 3-12. Kids can expect good singing, time with friends, good biblical teaching and to get to know Jesus a little better every week. If you want to learn more about Children’s Church, or if you need a ride, click here to contact Pastor Russell.

Mom’s and Tots

During the school year, every other Thursday at MacGregor EMC we hold a Moms and Tots Bible study, open to all mothers of young children. Click here to contact us if you are interested in learning more, or if you are interested in stopping by, check out our calendar to see when the next meeting is.

Kidz Connect

From October to May, we hold a weekly kids club ministry called Kidz Connect for ages 7-12. Your children can come expecting to make good friends, play fun games, have good snacks and get some great Bible-based teaching that will leave them in awe of who Jesus Christ is.

Sensory Room

At MacGregor EMC, we believe everyone should feel there is a place for them in church. However, for a lot of people, particularly those on the autism spectrum, business as usual at times feels overstimulating. To help, we have a specially equipped sensory room. Also, feel free to click here to contact Pastor Russell if you have any other needs that might be keeping you or your family members from attending.

Community Building Ministries

At MacGregor EMC, we take seriously the biblical commands to care for those in need in our congregation and in the community around us (James 1:27).

Deacons

Our deacons are always striving to visit our members in a way that shows they are remembered and valued. Our ministerial also has a compassion fund, open to those in unexpected need of money due to life circumstances. We have also partnered with the counselling service Recovery of Hope, to offer several free sessions to those in need of their service who would not otherwise be able to afford it. If you want to find out more about this service, contact Pastor Russell and he will be able to walk you through how to book an appointment.

We also care for our members and community in different ways as well. Are you moving and need a hand? Let us know. Are you new to the area and want to become familiar with where things are? We would be happy to show you our favourite local places for anything you could want.

Small Groups and Weekly Prayer Meetings

MacGregor EMC organizes a number of small groups that meet several times a month to study the Bible, support and pray for each other, as well as just talk and laugh about what is going on in our lives. There are groups for young adults as well as young families, for people whose children are older or heading off to college, as well as for seniors as well. There are also mixed age groups to learn and share with others regardless of life stage. If you are interested in joining a small group regardless of if you are a member or regular attender of MEMC, click here to contact Pastor Russell.

MacGregor EMC holds weekly prayer meetings, on Wednesdays at 2 p.m., where we come together in prayers of praise, as well as prayers for the church, the community, and all those in need. If you wish to find out more about these meetings or have a prayer request, please click here to contact Pastor Russell.

Monthly Potlucks

Once a month we hold a potluck meal after our Sunday Service. These times are open to everyone, regardless of whether they can afford to bring a meal or not. Our potlucks are a time of getting to know one another over a good and filling meal. Bon Appetite!

Community Events

Our community is packed to the brim with very talented people! As such chances are every month there will be some event open to the community going on. For the last year this has taken the form of a once-a-month music night called the Music in Church series. Every evening found a different style of music organized by someone excited to share. Let’s see what this year will bring!
